Santa Ana, Costa Rica is a municipality in San José Province, about six miles from San José itself – in fact, it is part of the metropolitan San José area. It is one of the towns closest to the San Jose’s Juan Santamaría international airport in a semi-rural/modern urban environment.
Situated just beyond what some consider the more trendy Escazú, this smaller, alluring San José suburb is growing rapidly and is considered the hub of Costa Rica’s business community. Santa Ana is home a to wide range of elite property, and has attracted a large international population who enjoy the local ambiance thanks to its modern conveniences and distinct Costa Rican cultural atmosphere. Local arts and crafts can be acquired at Cerámica Santa Ana, where pottery is still made on old-fashioned kick-wheels; and within minutes are the high-rise, modern office buildings that house regional branches of many Fortune 500 companies such as IBM, Intel, HP and many more.
While still maintaining its traditional feel of a typical Costa Rican town, with its predominantly local population, small stores, bars, restaurants offering local and international cuisine, and its Sunday morning fresh fruit and vegetable farmers’ market right in the center of town, Santa Ana has been recently experienced a real estate and commercial boom unprecedented in the entire Central Valley. It has become the place of choice for expats with its upscale grocery stores and supermarkets, gourmet restaurants, banks, gas stations, medical and dental clinics, beauty salons, coffee houses, hotels, business centers, private schools, shopping malls, art galleries and small commercial centers.
Santa Ana’s new business district of Lindora is where the Forum I & II Business Centers are located, just 15 minutes from Juan Santamaría international airport. The Forum I & II Business Centers offer state-of-the-art business facilities meeting international standards in technology, design and parking where a comfortable work environment is the number one priority. Office space starts at 200 m², the complex has its own emergency power plant, its telephone central has over 4,000 lines and high-speed Internet connectivity is ensured through fiber optic cables that deliver the services of ICE, RACSA, AMNET and CABLE TICA. Just minutes from there, near what locals call Santa Ana centro (‘downtown’), you will find the luxury boutique Hotel Luisiana.
The upscale Multiplaza Shopping Mall in Escazú (about 10 minutes east, on the autopista – main highway – going to San José) is the biggest mall in Costa Rica; PriceSmart (Costco) and Office Depot are just next door. Multiplaza is home to over 100 businesses, a large food court, modern movie theaters showing North American movies in English, banks and financial institutions, department stores, restaurants and over 1,000 parking spaces.
